Panettone is a traditional Italian brioche, originally from Milan, usually enjoyed during the holiday season. Its dough, rich in butter and eggs, is airy, soft, and slightly stringy. It is flavored with delicate aromas, often vanilla and citrus, and garnished with raisins and candied orange peel, sometimes with various candied fruits, or even chocolate chips in modern variations.
Baked in a tall, cylindrical mold, it is recognizable by its characteristic golden dome shape. Panettone can be enjoyed plain or with coffee, hot chocolate, or a glass of sweet wine.
